Our famous sloppy joe sauce started in Grandma JoAnn’s kitchen during the 1960’s. This sauce has been a family recipe for decades and is always requested, desired, and enjoyed by all. It’s ideal for many dishes so please enjoy this sauce as much as our family and friends have enjoyed it throughout the years!

Navy Veteran makes a great sauce!

Donald Hill - Homegrown by Heroes

Donald Hill the owner of Traditions Sauces and Brickyard Sloppy Joe Sauce is a University of Toledo graduate and a US Navy Veteran who served in Marine combat in Afghanistan.   While serving in the military he was eating a MRE (meal ready-to-eat) that contained sloppy joe sandwich.  He ate some and it was awful and made him long for the sloppy joes he enjoyed growing up.   When he returned he along with his mother mixed up an old family recipe and it was so good he got to wondering if they could sell it commercially.

More than just for Sloppy Joes!

Spread sauce over the pizza crust as you would regular pizza sauce. Next add your ground beef on top of the sauce. Add your cheeses. Sprinkle the bacon on top of the cheese. Now evenly layer and space out your tomatoes. Remember it needs to look pretty! Take pride in it! Add your red onions followed by your green chilies but be modest with them and don’t be shy they’re not hot and add great flavor.
